How often does the club meet?

Every Sunday for a choice of four rides of different distances and speeds.

Socially three or four times a year with presentations on topics of interest. Recent events have included demonstrations of CPR and a talk by one of our members ? see famous riders ? on her ride around the world. We have a weekend riding on the Isle of Wight each September. The club also holds regular informal pub nights. There are regular training rides on a Wednesday evening and Saturday morning throughout the year (for more information visit the Club Rides page). The rides cater for all abilities from beginners through to seasoned racers, but most importantly they are about enjoying cycling!

All rides depart from the Certini bicycle store car park.

The Wednesday rides are split in to 2 groups (both leave at 18.00) (as the club continues to grow this will split to 3 groups for safety reasons and to encourage a broader range of cyclist):

Leisure Ride: this is a more relaxed pace aimed at getting people in to cycling who are new to the sport, coming back from injury, recovery ride or just want to take it easy. This ride is ridden at the pace of the slowest rider and is around 30 miles. There is a dedicated group leader with predetermined routes.

Standard Ride: this is a faster paced ride where sprints and hill climbs are a regular feature. Aimed at the more experienced rider who may be looking or be competitive in sportive or bike racing (criterium, road race, time trial or triathlon)

The Saturday & Sunday rides are always an early start, usually no later than 08:00. This allows us to still get a decent ride in but have some time in the day left. In winter these rides are usually up to 3 Hrs or 50 miles and in the summer we can reach up to 100 miles.
